Draft Profile: Bio

Travis Hunter, a highly versatile athlete, hails from Collins Hill High School where he set the Georgia state record with 48 receiving touchdowns and led his team to its first state championship. Rated as a five-star recruit and the top player in the nation, he brought his exceptional skills to Jackson State in 2022, playing both wide receiver and cornerback. In his freshman season, he recorded 18 receptions for 188 yards and 4 touchdowns on offense, along with 20 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions on defense.

After transferring to Colorado, Hunter continued to showcase his dual-threat capability in the 2023 season. He logged 57 receptions for 721 yards and 5 touchdowns while also contributing 30 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense. His endurance and athleticism were evident as he played 1,044 snaps across nine games, despite missing three games due to a kidney injury. Hunter's performance earned him numerous accolades, including the Paul Hornung Award and consensus First-Team All-American honors.

Hunter's high school accolades include being named the Georgia Player of the Year by MaxPreps and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and earning First-Team All-American honors. At Colorado, he was a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection at both cornerback and all-purpose, further solidifying his status as a top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft as both a wide receiver and corner back.

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Exceptional ball skills, capable of high-pointing and securing catches in traffic.
  • Instinctive with strong route recognition, excels in zone coverage.
  • Versatile athlete with the ability to play both wide receiver and cornerback at a high level.
  • Quick feet and loose hips, adept at mirroring receivers in press coverage.
  • Strong recovery speed, able to make up ground and contest deep passes.
  • Elite top-end speed and length, effective in downfield coverage.
  • Solid instincts and ball-tracking ability, often in position to make plays on the ball.
  • Competitive drive, consistently elevates his game and the play of teammates.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Feet can be inconsistent, sometimes sluggish in backpedal transitions.
  • Prone to being outmuscled, needs to improve physicality against stronger receivers.
  • Susceptible to big plays due to aggressive tendencies at the catch point.
  • Occasionally focuses more on stripping the ball than securing tackles in run support.
  • May struggle against physical blockers, requiring development in disengaging techniques.
Scouting Report: Summary

Travis Hunter's ability to excel on both sides of the ball makes him a unique prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. His athleticism, ball skills, and versatility are major assets that will attract NFL scouts. Hunter's impressive stats at both wide receiver and cornerback demonstrate his potential to be a game-changer at the next level.

Despite his strengths, Hunter faces challenges. His dual-role raises concerns about durability and focus on honing skills at one position. Improving his physicality and consistency in backpedal transitions will be crucial for his success as a cornerback. Hunter's aggressive style also leaves him susceptible to big plays. Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, has said, "NFL got a problem. What you gonna draft him as? And... he's gotta play both ways. 'Cause he has value on both sides of the ball."

Overall, Hunter's blend of talent and athletic skills almost guarantees him a high first-round selection. Teams will need to decide whether to utilize his skills on offense, defense, or both. His success will depend on his ability to refine his game and stay healthy, but his potential impact on the field is undeniable.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
